Iznájar
This picturesque white village
is situated, within the beautiful rolling hills and evergreen olive groves to the south of the Subbética
Natural Park. This friendly
village, with its interesting Moorish castle, perches above the Lake of Andalucia, Lake Iznájar
offering stunning views of the 32km long reservoir. During fiestas and ferias all the streets of the village are decorated
with pretty lights and many fiestas include processions through the streets which are a great experience.
Zuheros
This beautiful white village is on the northern
borders of the Subbética Natural
Park and home to the Cueva de los Murciélagos (cave of bats). The winding
streets of this village home architecture from the 16th century and its steeps slopes offer several of the most
spectacular vantage points of the Sierra de Zuheros.

Priego de Córdoba
To the east of the Subbética,
a typical white wash Andalucian town is home to many points of interest, the Castle and the Barrio de la Villa which is a
charming setting of flowers and the Balcony of Ardarve. The Carnicerías Reales, which was a former 19th century
market, the archaeology museum and the Lozano Sidro museum.
Cabra
The town of Cabra,
is located on the western side of the Subbética, and is often referred to as the gateway to the Subbética. The historical
quarter of La Villa is home to the palatial castle of the Counts of Cabra and beautiful gardens and the courtyard of el Círculo
de la Amistad and the Eslava Institute an ancestral house which is now home to the Cabra Philharmonic Centre.

There are many more white villages
to found in and around the Subbética, all with historical and architectural points of interest. However, travelling a little
further a field offers a wide range of places of interest to visit.
The ancient town of Antequera is 30 minutes drive from Iznájar, towards the coast of Malaga, with its cobbled streets, beautiful architecture and old castle presenting stunning
view of the town and surrounding area.
Near to Antequera can be found the amazing limestone landscape of El Torcal Park Nature.
The coast of Malaga itself is about 50 minutes drive and offers sandy beaches, beautiful ports and bustling
cities.
Against the stunning back drop
of the Sierra Nevada is Granada, which is about 50 minutes
drive to the east of Iznájar. Not to be missed on any visit to this province is the Palace
of Alhambra and gardens. We would recommend booking tickets in advance.
If
you are staying with us during the month of May, you really should not miss a visit to the city of Córdoba, when the cities gardens are open to view. The Patio Festival is a unique opportunity
to step into private homes, whose owners-after caring for hundreds of plants and flowers all year long open their homes and
patios to the public.
